Our team conducted focus groups with businesses, NGOs, and local authorities in Voznesensk. These meetings provided deep insights into living conditions during the full-scale Russian invasion.

Additionally, we organized workshops with proactive residents to identify key issues and opportunities for the city's recovery.

This interaction enabled us to conduct a structural audit and lay the groundwork for building a recovery concept as well as setting and directions for pilot projects.

In January 2023, we also presented our interim findings to representatives of the city council, during which eight priority areas for recovery were established. This shared vision has become a crucial step toward the restoration and development of the hromada.

One of the key stages of our project has been the comprehensive digitalization of data, ensuring information accessibility for all stakeholders.

After digitizing data about the Voznesensk hromada, we began developing an innovative Digital Platform that collects, analyzes, and provides geospatial data on various aspects of hromada life. This platform encompasses vital information regarding infrastructure, housing stock, cultural heritage, natural resources, and other elements of the urban environment.

This technology enables the city administration to gain a clear understanding of the current state of the hromada, fostering effective collaboration between the local community and project partners. The platform’s geospatial database is continually updated using mobile data (including from Vodafone) and satellite imagery, allowing for the detection of changes in environmental conditions.

Moreover, the platform grants access to the hromada’s Master Plans, which were previously unavailable to the public. This helps to better understand which projects should be implemented and how they impact the overall development of the hromada. The city administration can now utilize this data more effectively for managing development processes. The platform provides a visual representation of the hromada’s trajectory and how proposed projects align with the overarching strategy.

The final presentation of the community's development vision, along with the Digital Platform, showcases an Integrated Recovery Concept for the city’s recovery. You can view this team's presentation online.

The Concept includes priority pilot projects aimed at improving infrastructure, attracting investment for the recovery of Voznesensk, and bringing people back to the city.

Additionally, the Concept outlines opportunities for cultural and tourism development, while conducting a detailed analysis of external threats and environmental conditions.

The Voznesensk hromada successfully presented this Concept at the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2024 in Berlin.
