Ukraine Urban Lab. Strategic Development Documents for 8 Ukrainian Hromadas
The Ukrainian Urban Lab is a consortium established by UN-Habitat, which brings together (i) Restart, (ii) Ro3kvit, (iii) IMPACT Initiatives, (iv) Urban Reform, and (v) the UN Innovation Technology Accelerator for Cities (UNITAC). Within this partnership, we developed roadmaps for sustainable development and recovery for eight Ukrainian hromadas (municipalities). The project combines short-term solutions with a long-term vision to enhance residents’ quality of life and strengthen community resilience in the face of future challenges.

Based on primary spatial research and secondary data analysis, we assessed each hromada’s condition — from geographical location and population dynamics to the education and healthcare fields, to mention a few. This helped identify the strengths and key challenges of every hromada.
Together with community representatives, we defined development priorities and prepared recommendations, outlining practical steps to achieve these goals in the near future. Our approach was guided by human-centred and sustainable principles.
