It is the people who use urban spaces every day who know their strengths and weaknesses best. However, Ukraine still lacks a universal tool to collect residents’ feedback and ideas in one place. Without such data, it is difficult to plan urban development, attract investment, or make evidence‑based decisions.
To address this, we created Hurtoma, a digital participatory platform. The first pilot project took place in Vinnytsia, focusing on the Tyazhylivka small river — a valuable natural area with both recreational potential and a need for ecological restoration.
How Hurtoma works
Registration
The user signs up for the platform and provides basic information about themselves
Survey & mapping
After signing up, the user completes a short survey and marks places on the map that they like or find problematic
Commenting
While mapping, users can leave comments, suggestions, or upload photos for specific locations
Results
Once the survey is completed, users can view the markers and comments left by others
